Supporting the Transition of Extension and Research in Namibia
Country/Region

Project Summary
The development of a comprehensive approach for the improvement of government service delivery to poor farmers
Project Description
CARDNO AGRISYSTEMS LIMITED
The STEAR project (Supporting the Transition of Extension and Research), implemented by Cardno Agrisystems and funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), was a well-managed, flexible and responsive project that assisted in the development of a comprehensive approach for the improvement of government service delivery to poor farmers.
The project supported community-led action against the HIV/AIDS pandemic and helped develop new livelihood opportunities.
STEAR avoided being a 'stand alone' project and focused on supporting the Ministry rather than carrying out its own independent activities. Mentorship and training were provided at the regional and national levels.
For this project Cardno Agrisystems was a finalist in the British Expertise International Awards, 2006.
