Architects, Engineers, Urban Designers, Health Planners
Norman + Dawbarn was established in 1934 as a partnership including Architects, Consulting Engineers and Planners. The practice was registered as a company in 1988 and continues to provide the broad spectrum of professional expertise necessary for multi-disciplinary building and engineering projects on an international scale, augmented by specialist consultants from a wide network of contacts.
There are two offices in Great Britain including the head office in London (see address shown at head of page), and one in Guildford. Both operate a Quality Assurance System to BS EN ISO 9001:1994
ACTIVITIES
The practice specialises in international projects, including Project Management of teams carrying out broad based studies and analysis of existing or proposed institutions covering management, finance, training, equipment or other topics as required as well as pure architectural and engineering services.
In areas where the logistics of project management and construction are difficult, the company has established a reputation for anticipating these difficulties and guiding projects through to successful completion, providing value for money invested.
Architecture:
As leaders of the professional building team, architects undertake project management, feasibility studies, design, production drawings, contract documentation, supervision and administration. These services are provided as traditional client/consultant commissions or as part of design and build packages or for turnkey contracts.
Specialised experience in recent years has been in the fields of education (particularly universities), health (from the sophisticated to the simplest of facilities), defence, residential and leisure facilities, television studios, agriculture, government and other office buildings and hotels and commercial development schemes. Rehabilitation and refurbishment of older buildings, and space planning are a major part of the practice's work load, both in the UK and overseas.
Structural and Civil Engineering:
Full support to architectural and multi-disciplinary commissions is provided. Expert knowledge and experience is available for building in earthquake and hurricane regions. Specialist services include structural condition surveys of existing buildings with reports and recommendations for repair and restoration, infrastructure, including roads, drainage, sewerage and sewage disposal, water supply and distribution. Other work undertaken includes geotechnical studies, tropical rural roads, water resources and environmental impact studies.
Building Services Engineering:
Feasibility studies, design, detailing and supervision of electrical and mechanical services and systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and public health engineering are undertaken.
