Macedonia: Aid-Funded Business Mission

Date: Sunday, 05 February 2012
Time:
Destination: Skopje

Win business through EuropeAid funding to Macedonia in a range of sectors. Meet decision makers from the EU Delegation and the Macedonian Government.

Thanks to FCO funding, we are able to offer a subsidy of £350 towards the expenses of each member of this mission.

As a candidate country for accession to the European Union, Macedonia (properly the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) receives European funding under the Instrument for pre-Accession Assistance (IPA). For the period 2011-13, some €305 million will be spent on the following priority areas:

  • Economic and social development
  • Improved good governance and reduced corruption
  • Non-discrimination and respect for human rights

To achieve these priorities, the Commission will focus its assistance primarily on:
public administration justice home affairs and fundamental rights private sector development agriculture and rural development transport the environment and climate change

The British Embassy in Skopje has obtained FCO funding to organise a high-level business seminar on opportunities under the IPA programme, and has asked British Expertise to organise both the seminar and a group of up to 15 companies to visit Skopje.

Who should participate: UK-based companies experienced in delivering development solutions in the areas noted above. Previous experience of working for EuropeAid would be desirable, but not essential.
