Are you aware of the opportunities for UK - based companies in the ports sector?
If you are a UK company involved in any aspect of managing, developing, planning or equipping a port or if you have responsibility for the provision of supporting logistics services - then this event will be relevant to you.

UK companies are invited to attend a UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) seminar from 0900 to 1400 on Monday 18 October to hear first hand about the major port developments taking place in two high growth markets in the Middle East. The seminar will be chaired by David Howell, Chairman of British Expertise, and will be followed by a networking lunch.

Speakers

The invited delegation includes the Team leader for the Boubiyan Port Project, the Marine Operations Manager of Shuaiba Port representing the Kuwait Ports Authority, and the Transportation and Logistics advisor to the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority. UKTI representatives based at the British Embassy in Kuwait City and British Consulate General, Jeddah will be at the seminar to provide practical advice and latest ports industry information for these markets.

The opportunities

  • The Saudi Arabia Port Authority has announced plans for an $8 billion investment in modernising and equipping all its ports with the participation of the private sector
  • The Transport Ministry in Saudi Arabia have announced that it is studying plans for a further Red Sea port at Al-Lith
  • Kuwait has recently signed a $1.1bn deal to design and build the first phase of a major new port in Bubiyan Island
  • Kuwait Ports Authority has plans for the expansion of Shuaiba port
  • Kuwait is planning to privatise all its ports starting in 2011
