Members will be aware that since we held the last of our popular DFID Procurement Working Group meetings in June 2009, the DFID Procurement Group has undergone a major re-organisation. We are therefore delighted that Martin Bowden, Head of Profession, Procurement and Head of Procurement Group, Value for Money Department, has agreed to re-start the regular meetings with British Expertise members, and the next meeting will therefore be held at the British Expertise offices on Thursday 9 September from 1100 - 1300 followed by a networking lunch.
Martin will be accompanied by Procurement Group colleagues, including Debbie Healy, Head of Supplier Sourcing & Strategic Management.
The meeting will comprise an update by DFID on their procurement strategy, and a discussion with members on topics which from recent discussions are likely to include: use of frameworks; changes to the tendering process including commercial evaluation and a new PQQ form; increased use of the country office role in procurement; project pipeline; transparency; increased focus on value for money.
