We are delighted to welcome Denis Keefe, HM Ambassador to Georgia, and Rupert Joy, HM Ambassador to Uzbekistan, at the next meeting in the CATBIG country focus series. This is a “double-header” to take advantage of both Ambassadors being in the UK for the FCO leadership conference.
Denis Keefe has been Ambassador in Tbilisi since July 2007 and will shortly be moving to another FCO posting. This is an excellent time to hear his views of the last 3 years in Georgia. Little known fact: Denis is an expert in Hellenistic Greek poetry!
Rupert Joy has been Ambassador in Tashkent since early 2009, and this will be our first chance to hear his views on Uzbekistan. Little known fact: Rupert has a Masters Diploma in the international wine and spirits trade, and has worked as a freelance wine writer!
Each Ambassador will speak for about 20 minutes, giving an overview of the economic, political and commercial situation in their country. They will then take questions, and members are welcome to give their experience of working in these countries.
