British Expertise News

It is officially September and the British Expertise International calendar is packed full of interesting meetings and events for our members.

To wrap up August, our members were hosted yesterday by Trade & Investment Queensland at the Australia Centre for a briefing with Mayor Mark Jamieson of Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The Sunshine Coast is Australia’s most sustainable region, where over $3 billion in capital investment in infrastructure and public facilities is underway, generating a host of new and innovative infrastructure projects. Among these is the recently completed 15-megawatt grid-connected solar farm; Australia’s first automated waste collection system for a CBD to be installed in the new Maroochydore City Centre; and a new, longer runway to be built at Sunshine Coast airport by 2020 making it Australia’s newest international airport. A number of other interesting projects are in the planning stages, including a dedicated underwater fibre optic cable line that would serve Queensland and is projected deliver over $1.1BN per annum to the local economy.
