EuropeAid Meeting

A packed house heard an excellent talk from the EuropeAid Director for Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific, Gary Quince, on Monday 26 July. Gary summarised the progress in implementing EDF 10, which is now well underway, with only Sudan not now being eligible from those countries that participated in EDF 9. There are a number of new initiatives in the infrastructure sector, which are detailed in Gary’s presentation, for a copy please email Yvonne. The meeting also heard from British Expertise member Harewelle International on their experience of working on EDF projects, and finally Linda Geller from UKREP talked about the services available from the Commercial Section in helping companies win work from EuropeAid.

Now is the time to prepare your entry for our prestigious British Expertise Annual Awards. The entry closing date is Thursday 30 September and the winners will be announced at our Gala Dinner at The Institute of Directors on Thursday 11 November. Mexico

The state of Nuevo Leon in Mexico has recently had severe flooding, leading to the destruction of many bridges and roads. The state capital, Monterrey, was also badly affected. The British Consul in Monterrey, Jonathan Clare, is liaising with the State Government and trying to put together a group of UK companies who could assist in the reconstruction. Jonathan will also be hosting a UKTI construction sector trade mission that will visit both Mexico City and Monterrey from 20 -24 September (this is being organised for UKTI by British Expertise, please see Mexico booking form).

Business Secondee for Brazil Environment sector
